Foundation Stage 1

Welcome to Foundation Stage 1!

We are very lucky to have a fantastic new building and outdoor area for our learning this year. There are lots of exciting learning experiences planned!
Our nursery children attend school during the morning session 8.45am-11.45am.

Mrs Adams, our wonderful teacher, and Mrs Lambert, our brilliant TA, support us each morning.

Our focus in the first half term is settling in and learning new routines. We are also talking about 'ourselves' and how to be healthy. We are making new friendships and learning about different feelings through stories, information books and games.

In the Autumn term we will be looking at: Autumn, Toys and Christmas. We will investigate poppies and pumpkins as parf of Remembrance Sunday and Halloween. We will be learning about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot as we create firework pictures for Bonfire night.
In the Spring term we will be invesigating Space and reading Aliens Love Underpants.
Our Spring topic is 'Where do our letters go?' We are sharing the story of the Jolly Postman and talking about the characters that are in the story. Each week we will be doing the traditional tale of each character that the Jolly Postman delivers his letters to such as Cinderella, The Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk.
We are also learning about Spring and we will be planting some seeds so that we can watch them grow.
Look out in the home/school journal for weekly learning so you can support children at home.

There are lots of opportunities for you to come and work with your child in class. We look forward to welcoming you to our Stay and Play sessions throughout the year.

Our shared area is currently an immersive area to learn about The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
