Dear Parents, Carers, Families and Visitors,
Welcome to Laughton Junior and Infant School’s website. I hope that you find it easy to navigate around and can find all of the information you need. If you feel there is something missing or information is difficult to find, please let us know.
I would like to thank all of the staff, governors and families I have met so far who have made my transition to Laughton such an enjoyable experience.
This year is proving to be a very exciting year. We have many fantastic learning opportunities planned including: novel study, mystery readers, reading buddies and spelling champions. In addition, all classes get to experience trips and visits to amazing places like Crucial Crew, Filey, Perlethorpe as well as our residentials to Robinwood, Castleton and our evening of camping in the school grounds. Please keep up to date by looking at our Twitter feed on this page which celebrates some of the outstanding learning and learning behaviours we have seen in school.
I hope that you enjoy seeing all of the wonderful learning which takes place here at Laughton J&I. An incredible amount of learning has taken place during the Autumn term with a real push on presentation, developing our understanding of bullying and deepening our experience of novel study. During the Spring term we again focused on improving presentation, embedding new guided reading foci and welcoming new parent reading volunteers. We gained our reaccreditation of the Basic Skills Quality Mark as well as our Modeshift Bronze Award. We are all really excited for the rest of the academic year which will culminate in a wonderful new Foundation unit and extensions to most of the classrooms. Our staff work incredibly hard to ensure the children have an engaging and thought provoking curriculum and we strive to ensure that all of our children enjoy themselves whilst becoming independent, questioning and resilient learners.
Everyone here at Laughton works together so that all of our children are happy, safe and aspire to be the best that they can and we thank all of our parents and carers for your continued support in helping us to achieve this.
If you have any questions or want to come and see me, call in before school (except Thursdays when I work with Y6) or please make an appointment with the school office.
